GME is a specialist education organization with extensive operational experience across the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, and South Asia. We operate educational institutions, advise governments on education policy, and deliver internationally recognized qualifications to students who would otherwise lack access to them.

Story

Our Heritage

Our Heritage

GME was established upon a foundational conviction: every student, regardless of circumstance or location, deserves access to education of the highest calibre.

This conviction has guided our expansion into regions that present considerable complexity. We have developed schools in areas recovering from conflict. We have founded universities where tertiary education was previously inaccessible. We have implemented professional development programmes for educators in countries where such provision was entirely absent.

Today, our network encompasses 44 schools, 72 vocational colleges, and two universities, serving students from early childhood through postgraduate study.

We advise government ministries on national education strategy.

We maintain partnerships with distinguished British institutions to deliver qualifications recognized throughout the world.

Our role extends beyond that of a programme provider or consultancy.

We are institution builders. We develop capability. We invest in permanence.

Our operations now span the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, and South Asia. Through our partnership with online programmes, we extend our reach to learners on every continent.

We direct our efforts towards regions of genuine educational need, and we maintain our presence until sustainable capacity has been established.

Approach

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Education is delivered by dedicated professionals — teachers in classrooms, lecturers in universities, trainers in vocational settings. Our responsibility is to support these professionals by constructing the systems, furnishing the resources, and upholding the standards that enable excellence.

We fulfill this responsibility through

four guiding principles:

We fulfill this responsibility through four guiding principles:

As Facilitators

We establish connections between institutions, nations, and ideas. We cultivate partnerships that generate opportunities unattainable by either party independently.

As Catalysts

As Critical Friends

We provide candid, constructive counsel oriented towards genuine improvement. We communicate what our partners need to understand, rather than what they might prefer to hear.

This is not advisory work conducted from a distance. We integrate ourselves within the institutions we support, developing thorough understanding of local contexts, building indigenous capacity, and sustaining our engagement until objectives are realized.

Case Study

British International University

British International University

Establishing British Higher Education in Iraq.

The Challenge

The Kurdistan Region of Iraq presented substantial demand for internationally recognized higher education, yet no viable pathway existed for students to access it. Direct establishment of a British university campus was not feasible. Previous partnership initiatives had faltered due to regulatory complexity and the inherent difficulties of maintaining academic standards across significant distances.

The region required a partner prepared to commit to long-term institution building — not merely a contractual arrangement, but genuine investment in educational infrastructure.

GME approached this undertaking as an exercise in institutional development rather than programme licensing.

Over eight years, we worked in close collaboration with local stakeholders to:

Navigate the requirements of Iraqi and Kurdish regulatory frameworks to secure necessary approvals

Recruit and develop academic staff capable of delivering British programmes to British standards

Establish quality assurance systems that satisfy both local regulatory authorities and UK awarding bodies

Create comprehensive student support services from initial application through graduation

Develop progression pathways enabling graduates to pursue postgraduate study internationally

Our Response

British International University now offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Law, Business Administration, and Architectural Engineering through the University of London, alongside Medical Sciences through the University of Surrey.

Students throughout Iraq and the broader region now have access to British higher education without the necessity of leaving their homeland. Graduates proceed to postgraduate study at leading institutions worldwide.
